BowWow! Cortland’s Pet Parents Get Enhanced Leash-Free Facilities.

EarthWorks was asked to transform pet amenity areas at Cortland’s properties at MacArthur Park and Walnut Hill. The transformations were welcomed by their residents and will be enjoyed by them and their furry friends for years to come!

Cortland MacArthur

Cortland MacArthur is located in the heart of the DFW area in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. The apartment community is close to dining, shopping, and plenty of entertainment options. Cortland is centrally located to major employers such as the Fluor Corporation and Citibank, making commutes a breeze for Cortland’s residents. For weekend fun, residents can stroll the views at Sam Houston Trail Park or enjoy the local shopping and entertainment in Las Colinas.

The accommodations at Cortland MacArthur Park feature apartment amenities such as wood-style flooring, walk-in closets, and modern upgrades throughout their 1, 2, or 3 bedrooms units.

Recently, Cortland contracted EarthWorks to complete renovations to an existing leash-free dog park. The project consisted of updating their existing dog park as it had become overgrown with dead plants and grass and was an eyesore. We added green synthetic turf, new fencing, and a pet station containing waste bags and a doggie waste receptacle. Decomposed granite was added to the surface, and stepping stones were added as well. The final product looks outstanding while also being user-friendly and is already loved by residents and their furry friends alike.

Cortland Walnut Hill Park

The Cortland Walnut Hill Park apartment community is just minutes from Downtown Dallas and Las Colinas. It is an upscale apartment community with 1, 2, or 3 bedroom units. Some of the upscale amenities include nine-foot ceilings, crown molding, and wood-burning fireplaces. The community is conveniently located to some of the city’s largest employers, such as DFW International Airport and North Lake College, making it a short commute for their residents. It is a short distance from TPC Four Season Las Colinas for weekend fun, or residents can visit the shopping, dining, and entertainment options such as the Toyota Music Factory. 

We were asked to overhaul an underutilized playground and convert it into a leash-free dog park for this property. This project’s first step involved developing the landscape design for the transformation. We first removed the existing playground structure, which had not been used in years. The structure was removed and is being used at another property. For the dog park, we added synthetic turf, which is the perfect surface material for animals as it is easy to clean, and maintain, and it reduces the odor from biowaste. We also added fencing around the area so that dogs can run free while reducing the worry of pet parents. Benches and a pet station were added as well. Several residents at Walnut Hill have contacted Cortland to let them know how appreciative they are to have an amenity that is far more used than the previous playground structure.
