EarthWorks received this prestigious project award for the outstanding work at the Cortland Twin Creeks Apartment Community in Allen, TX. The community offers one, two, and three-bedroom units and is located near some of the area’s best schools, dining, shopping, and recreational spaces. Residents enjoy luxury living with enhanced features such as nine-foot ceilings and built-in shelving with crown molding.

EarthWorks Renovates Space For Better Functionality

Initially, the exterior space was an underutilized basketball court that had been on the grounds of the multi-housing community for years. The goal of this project was to create a new and improved area for residents to enjoy. It was an opportunity to continue enhancing the community, giving residents a place to foster new relationships and spend time with their loved ones.

To begin construction, the basketball court surface was pressure washed and epoxy was applied. This was the beginning step in turning the space into a “grill and chill” area that features:

  • Two large open-air cedar pergolas to provide shade for residents
  • Gaming area that includes a concrete cornhole game, steel ping pong table, and washer toss game
  • Two spacious “L” shaped grilling areas, equipped with high-end propane and charcoal BBQs. The stations are made of natural mortared stone with Leuters limestone used for the countertops
  • Mortared stone seat walls to match the grilling area surface. Low voltage LED lighting was added to the seating walls for safety and illumination
  • Finishing touches included Bermuda grass and Dwarf Burford Hollys around the perimeter

To separate the revamped amenity area from other parts of the community a decorative concrete barrier and a 4-foot black iron fence were added in addition to two access gates. Concrete steps were added as well. Tables, chairs, and patio-style umbrellas were added for comfortable seating.

This project was successfully delivered on both budget and time. The client was thrilled with the results and is confident the community members will endlessly enjoy the new outdoor amenities.
