EarthWorks Recognized With Top Awards from the NALP!

We are thrilled to announce that the National Association for Landscaping Professionals has honored us with the top three accolades. Our team was recently notified of these remarkable achievements, and we are so excited to attend the formal presentation of these awards at the upcoming Elevate Expo hosted by NALP from September 10-13. This is the most important event our company attends and is where we book most of our work for the upcoming year.

Silver Award Honors Shaun Callaway’s Outstanding Achievement

Shaun Callaway, Vice President for Houston Market, received a Silver Award for his work on the Camden Vanderbilt project, which successfully transformed a water fountain into a sunken dog park. The old fountain on site had been causing a lot of problems for the residents of the complex every time there was a heavy downpour.

The goal was to create a relaxing and functional outdoor living space where resident’s beloved pets could run, play, and socialize while emphasizing the beauty of the community. It was a challenging project, which required draining the fountain to get the level low enough to enter the area and allow it to dry out. 

We faced an ongoing challenge with persistent rainfall, causing the fountain to fill continuously. To address this issue, we had to intermittently pump excess water out. Consequently, we devised innovative drainage solutions, ultimately implementing a highly effective underground drainage system.

Now, the space has in-built concrete seating where residents can comfortably sit and watch their pets with the other pet parents. As a result, their property was revitalized entirely, and it’s now a beautiful sunken dog park that is regularly visited by pets and their owners. 

Our clients loved the result, and this award acknowledges one of the most challenging and rewarding projects EarthWorks has had the honor to deliver, both in functionality and visual appeal.

Double Recognition: Kevin Narveson’s Silver and Bronze Awards

Kevin Narveson (Hardscape Division Manager/Estimator) received the prestigious Silver and Bronze awards for his work on two landscape projects for EarthWorks. 

The Silver Award was in recognition of the Cortland West Plano – Amenity Space in Plano, TX, where Kevin’s team renovated their volleyball court by replacing it with a synthetic turf soccer field that is far more utilized than the court ever was.

Additionally, the playground area was enhanced with synthetic turf. Some fun play equipment was added that included colorful moguls with a tunnel and a concrete cornhole play space. 

The challenge of this project was to convert a volleyball court that no one was enjoying into a playground big enough to accommodate more children. Kevin and his crew were able to make the most of space that was not being utilized, and now it’s bigger and more inviting. As our client said: “I love the moguls that were put in! I can’t wait to take photos of them and upload them to Cortland Connection.”

Bronze Award-Winning Excellence

The Bronze Award was for Kevin’s work on the Cortland Presidio East – Grill Station in Ft. Worth, Texas. They constructed a deluxe grill station with a mortar stone grill enclosure, a ceramic smoker, a cedar pergola, lighting, a ceiling fan, paver flooring, and even a little landscaping.

There were not enough grill locations on that property, so Kevin’s team’s efforts greatly improved what they already had in place. The result is a beautiful space where neighbors can hang out, cook some food, and socialize. 

We want to offer our heartfelt congratulations to Shaun, Kevin, and the entire EarthWorks team. Your dedication and efforts have not gone unnoticed, and we are eagerly looking forward to celebrating these well-deserved awards at the NALP event this coming week!
