The Impact of Trauma on Children’s Well-being

Trauma can have long-lasting effects on a child’s physical, emotional, and mental health, leading to depression, anxiety, and difficulties in relationships. To heal from trauma, children need safe, supportive, and nurturing environments that promote their well-being and help them develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Introducing an Incredible Dallas Community Program for at Risk Children and Teens

Jonathan’s Place in Dallas helps children, teens, and young victims of neglect, abuse, and child trafficking. Thanks to their efforts, they receive shelter, counseling, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Jonathan’s Place is the only organization in Dallas County that provides residential services to children under 5. They receive medical and dental care and psychological assessments and attend weekly group therapy sessions. These children will also be enrolled in school if they still need to.

Notable Programs They Offer to Dallas Kids and Teens

Foster Care & Adoption program: This program recruits, trains, and supports foster and adoptive parents. The children are under the care of a case manager, who finds them a foster home that best meets the needs of each child. 

Girl’s Residential Treatment Program: This program is for girls who have experienced physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. It’s the only one of its kind here in Dallas County. They provide specialized professional services that help girls aged 10-18 get the necessary therapeutic care.

National Outreach and Runaway Prevention Program: These programs are designed to educate middle and high school children about abuse. If any youth are in crisis, then they can be helped immediately and brought to safety.

Transitional Living Program: Young women aged 17-23 who are close to aging out of foster care get assistance from this program. They get help finding safe housing and services that aid their mental, physical, and educational well-being,

RESET Program: Jonathan’s Place also provides for the specialized needs of child sex trafficking victims. Their RESET program offers emergency shelter and placement with long-term therapeutic services. This includes trauma-informed therapeutic services that offer medical, legal, and educational help and life skills to help them start their new lives.  It may be alarming to learn that over 400 children are trafficked in the Dallas area alone on any given day, highlighting the continual support needed for amazing organizations like Jonathan’s Place.

How We Support This Outstanding Dallas Community Program
