New 10,000 sq.ft of Family Fun Brings Entertaining Areas to Multi-Housing Community

The North Star Apartment Community has always taken pride in creating an aesthetically pleasing environment for its residents. Located northeast of Downtown Dallas, North Star Apartments is in the heart of a charming residential neighborhood. Their residents are within a short distance to everything they could desire, from Interstate 635 to first-class shopping, dining, and entertainment. Their wholly renovated complexes are equipped with covered parking, controlled community access, and more. To build upon the beauty of their apartment community, they have asked us to work on a large construction project that will overhaul their outdoor communal area.

Fun For The Whole Family

We are in the process of making a significant change to the shared community space at the North Star Apartment Community that will increase the amenities that their residents and their families can enjoy. Here are some of the enhancements we will be making:

• Playground Area: A 27 x 23 ft playground area will be added for children aged 2-5. The area will be ADA accessible and will hold up to 16 children. The playground will feature a slide, fireman pole, pod climber, ship’s wheel, and ocean wave climber. 
• Dog Park: A grassed and fully enclosed dog park area for residents to play with their pets.
• Outdoor Kitchen: A 12-foot grill station that features propane and charcoal grills will be added, equipped with an auto-shutoff timer for safety. The grill area will have tables and chairs for residents to relax. The surface area will be made of natural stone mortar.
• Pergolas:Three open-air cedar pergolas for residents to relax under. They will be located in the dog park, a large area outside the dog park, and the grill station.
• Gaming Area:A gaming area will be added where residents can play cornhole, with other games added in the future. The ground surface will be made of decomposed granite.
• Basketball Court: A half basketball court made of poured concrete with an acrylic-backboard basketball net will be installed.

We will also be adding Xeriscaping to the newly renovated area. Xeriscapes consist of drought-tolerant plants such as yuccas. A xeriscape was the ideal choice for this property as the client wanted a low-maintenance space where the plants could withstand (and thrive in) the hot Texas heat. Xeriscapes are a popular choice in Texas landscapes as they lower a property’s water costs and consumption.
