In the Houston area, like many other parts of the country, there are instances where children are at risk and require immediate intervention and placement in foster care. Casa de Esperanza offers a unique service, providing emergency and voluntary foster placements for infants and young children up to six years old.

With a dedicated Parent Support team, they extend their guidance and assistance to birth parents, helping them redirect their path toward securing a safe and nurturing environment where their children can thrive.

The overarching goal is to protect the children from harm, provide stability, and work towards reunification with their birth families whenever possible. By providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and supporting families, they strive to break the cycle of abuse and neglect.

Homes of Safety, Health, Permanence, and Hope

Casa de Esperanza has provided comprehensive Family Support Services for over forty years to ensure children have permanent and stable homes. Some of the programs they offer to address the needs of families and children in their care include:

Foster Care Program

They strongly believe in providing a secure and caring foster home to infants and children going through challenging family circumstances. This ensures the children’s safety while their families try to resolve their difficulties.

With trained caregivers, personalized service plans, school readiness training, comprehensive evaluations, and an emphasis on healthy eating habits, the program aims to provide the best possible care for the children in foster care.

The program stands out as one of the few in the region that accepts voluntary placements, allowing birth parents to choose the placement option that best suits their needs.

Family Support Services

In addition to residential care, birth parents have access to a range of services designed to help them build fortified, healthy homes with the hope of being reunited with their children and going forward together.

• Birth Parent Case Management Services – Comprehensive support and guidance (parenting guidance, education, job readiness, etc.)
• Aftercare (Reunification) Case Management Services – Support of families post-reunification for ongoing stability and success. According to the center’s Impact Report, 100 families with 245 children and 121 adults received aftercare services in 2022.

Post Permanency Program

For situations where the family cannot reunite, Casa de Esperanza facilitates custody arrangements like adoption, permanent managing conservatorship, and permanent guardianship.

Casa de Esperanza has undergone a remarkable journey from its humble beginnings, transitioning into a comprehensive, trauma-informed program. Today, it proudly encompasses a gated neighborhood comprising ten homes and a vibrant community of foster families dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children.
